Holly Ridge

The Town of Holly Ridge is located on US Hwy 17 in the southern section of Onslow County. It is convenient to both Wilmington and Jacksonville and is only a short 10 minute ride to Topsail Island beaches.
Holly Ridge was incorporated in 1941 with a population of 28 at that time. In 1943, during World War II, Camp Davis opened, housing US Army and Navy Troops, and the population reached 110,000. Missile testing was conducted on nearby Topsail Island and Holly Ridge was considered as a possible site for the US Space Program. The missile project that evolved into the space program instead moved south to Florida. Today, the population is approximately 1180 people.
Holly Ridge is an ideal location for military families needing to be close to Camp Lejeune and the Marine Corp Air Station at New River because it allows working spouses the opportunity to obtain jobs or further their education in either Wilmington or Jacksonville. Holly Ridge is also attractive to anyone wanting to be close to uncrowded Topsail Island beaches, have easy access to dining and shopping in Wilmington and Jacksonville as well as the availability of affordable housing.
